Mother's Day

This year, my Mother's Day was full of bittersweet emotions, fun surprises, and good times with some of my favorite people in the world. My Mom, the kids and I began the day at church. After a quick lunch at home, we headed out on a short five minute drive to a botanic garden at the university near our home. My Mom had never been to the gardens, so we were looking forward to an afternoon of exploring and playing. When we pulled into our parking place, I glanced over and saw a familiar mini-van. Some good friends of ours had the same idea of a good place to spend Mother's Day afternoon! I called my friend on her cell phone and she was delighted that we were there and invited us to spend the time with them.

The kids all ran and played hide and seek and just had a blast. The mamas walked, talked and enjoyed the lovely day, and my friends' husband joined the kids on their exploring adventures, climbing with them to places the mamas preferred not to! Thanks, Bob!

Afterwards we went to a nearby shopping center complete with a Starbucks, a squirting fountain the kids could play in, and an ice cream shop. The adults sipped their coffees while the kids pretended and played for hours.

We finished the day with dinner at our favorite family restaurant. We were prepared to wait for a long time, but instead we experienced the blessing of being seated right away!
