Planets and stars

We have just finished up a science unit focusing on astronomy with our co-op. We read lots of library books and used a great kids astronomy site as a basis for our learning. During our co-op time, we made a solar system model, studied magnetism, and mapped out the distance between the planets on our driveway (we used one step as the distance from Earth to the sun, or one astronomical unit). We finished up with a morning of presentations on topics ranging from black holes to the Sun to the early astronomers (Stephen's topic). In a couple of weeks we will go to the planetarium at our local community college to watch a show together. I know the kids learned a lot...and I did too!
