Science Friday...and Greek myths

Today we had science co-op with some good friends. This month we are studying magnets. Part of today's lesson was future-focused because the kids worked on making theaters they can use to tell the Christmas story. They colored and cut out Nativity figures that my friend had drawn (amazing). Then the grown-ups cut some shoe boxes to make stages. The kids will put paper clips onto the bottoms of the figures and move them around with magnets under the shoe box. We still need to make scenery. Pictures would help this make sense, but I don't have any!

The kids also learned about the different poles of the magnets. For a hands-on activity they made a toy car move with a magnet (this I DO have pictures of).





After the focused learning was done, we went to the park across the street from our friends' house and the kids utterly amazed us by putting on a play about the twelve tasks of Hercules. Stephen studied the ancient Greeks last year, and the my friends' girls are studying them right now. They made me be the king who jumps into the brass pot :). It was amazing to see their imagination and collaboration.
