Dorothy and I picked Stephen and Clare up from school and headed out to the Perris Fairgrounds for their first experience at a county fair. We went with our good friends who are old hands at the fair thing and so had lots of tips for us. The kids scored tons of free stuff from various vendors who all seemed to enjoy their delighted cries: "Wow! A water bottle!" "Oh look, guys, an IPOD!" (They kid get free MP3 players from the City of Perris...not an IPOD, but a cool free gift nonetheless!).

We saw pig races and turkeys, played in the replica of a one-room schoolhouse,

made adobe bricks,

and panned for gold.

Good fun with good friends!

That looks like the best day ever! Don't you love it when you stumble upon such enriching kid-focused days like that. Our kids got to release little baby sturgeon (a kind of fish) into the Milwaukee River last weekend. Sam kissed his & named it 'Fin' before letting it go!! Derek & I watched Clare read last night. Very exciting. Sam is our new prayer warrior. He will stop us in the middle of dinner to pray for someone he cares about. A little child leads us... We will watch your blog & pray often. You are the only family we know personally with someone in the services. Our love & support, The Strohl Family
